32 jobs a year are expected to become available in Nevada through 2022. Slightly more than half are projected to be new jobs created by growth. The remaining positions are expected to come from respiratory therapists who will leave the workforce. The Nevada Workforce Informer predicts 23 jobs a year will become available in the Las Vegas area each year between now and 2022, while six a year are expected in both the Reno and Carson City areas.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Nevada respiratory therapist salaries were the third highest in the country in 2013 at $69.340 a year. The Nevada Workforce Informer indicated that the average respiratory therapist salary in Nevada was $69,340 in 2014. Salaries ranged from $51,293 for those in the 10th percentile to $91,291 for those in the 90th.

Although the respiratory therapy salaries were the highest in Carson City, only a small percentage of Nevada’s RTs worked in this area in 2014. 73% of the state’s 960 respiratory therapists practiced in the Las Vegas area in 2014, while an additional 18% were in the Reno area.
